Engagement / Wedding Story – Alex and Jenna

Engagement / Wedding

"Absolutely beautiful, exactly how I had imagined"

When Alex first reached out to us, he and Jenna were already engaged.  But the ring Jenna would wear forever was still waiting to be created.

Their engagement story had already taken them across continents. Alex proposed in Kruger National Park in South Africa while the two of them were travelling the world together. Finding the perfect ring during months of backpacking proved nearly impossible, and Jenna unknowingly foiled Alex’s secret ring-hunting plans more than once along the way.

So Alex did what many great romantics have done before him – he improvised.  He proposed with two temporary rings and a promise: one day he would design the real one.  That promise eventually led him to Hart & Halo.

He had already sourced the centre stone himself – a beautiful Sapphire that he carefully sent across to our studio in New Zealand so we could design the ring around it.

From the beginning, Alex had a clear vision. Jenna loved jewellery that felt organic and a little whimsical – something inspired by nature.

The final design was crafted in platinum with lighter green-blue side stones complementing his central Sapphire beautifully.  The marquise-cut Sapphires gently framed his Sapphire in a fern-like manner trailing out to beautiful round Alexandrites on either end.  These were a particularly meaningful choice because Alexandrite had long been an inside joke between them, so of course Alex had to include it.  We didn’t stop there, if you view the ring underneath you’ll see the prongs have been designed to be all reaching out from the centre stone. This gives the ring its subtle “elven” feel that he knows Jenna loves so much.

And then there was one final, deeply personal detail.

Somewhere along their journey, “I love you” had quietly evolved into something simpler. Three small dots. Nothing else needed.  Alex had those three dots engraved on the inside of the band, their own private language, hidden in plain sight.

When the finished ring finally left our New Zealand studio and began its journey to Alex in Australia, it carried far more than beautiful gemstones.  It carried his understanding of her. Her style. Their in-jokes. Their quiet language. And a promise made in the middle of a South African safari.

A ring designed across continents,
holding every chapter behind them and everything still ahead.
