Pear Sapphires

Characterised by a round or oval on one end, with a marquise like point on the other, the pear or teardrop cut sapphire is a classic beauty. Pear sapphires can be quite long and thin, or big fat teardrops, but either way they are a unique shape that adds interest.

The pear shape, or teardrop, is a modified brilliant cut, one that blends the marquise and oval cuts with one rounded end and a point on the other. The pear sapphire shape can be worn with the tip pointing upwards or downwards on the finger, so it is a shape of juxtapositions.
