Engagement / Wedding Story – Cory and Alex

Alex and Cory first met in Japanese class at the University of Auckland.  For a couple of years they stayed firmly in the friend zone… until one day they decided to explore something more. And well – the rest, as they say, is history.

During casual conversations about the future, Cory asked Alex what her dream engagement ring would look like. Alex knew exactly what she wanted: a pink teardrop Sapphire set in a silver-toned metal, with delicate leaf details to reflect her love of nature. She even had ideas for the wedding band – something that would complement the design, perhaps with a few small Diamonds woven in.

So when Cory discovered the exact Sapphire Alex had described in our collection, he knew he had to act.  At first, Cory simply reached out hoping to secure the Sapphire itself. But after connecting with Hart & Halo, Celeste and the team were able to help bring Alex’s full vision to life. Together they designed a ring that captured everything she had imagined – a process that unfolded naturally, thoughtfully, and with great care.

Meanwhile, Alex and Cory had been planning a trip to Japan. As the ring quietly came to life behind the scenes, Cory decided that Japan would be where he would ask the most important question.  The proposal took place on the staircase featured in the famous Japanese film Your Name – Alex’s favourite movie. After meeting in Japanese class, it felt like a beautiful full circle moment.

With a ring created especially for her, and a setting that had quietly been part of their story from the beginning, Alex and Cory continue their beautiful love story.  And we are honoured to have been a small part of it.
