Engagement / Wedding
Their first date was at a pub called "Hope & Anchor"
These guys were the cutest, they say ‘when you know you know’. Well on their first date at the Hope & Anchor pub, they talked until closing, then continued the convo in the gutter near their cars until 1am (where they nearly got backed into by a delivery truck!). They simply didn’t want to say good-bye, and have been inseparable ever since. Fast forward three overseas trips, a puppy, a townhouse and an IVF journey later…it was never a question of if, but when.
They visited a few local jewellers to explore their options, but the experience felt conventional. Beautiful rings, certainly – yet nothing that felt truly reflective of them. Introduced to Hart & Halo by a friend, they discovered something different. An atelier approach. A process rooted in story, sentiment, and intention. Not a selection from a showcase, but a collaboration – where every detail was considered and every element carried meaning.
This wasn’t about finding a ring.
It was about creating theirs.
Originally, they’d planned to surprise each other with separate proposals. But there was a small concern – what if one proposal out-romanced the other? (Sophie does have a reputation for being the romantic one.)
So they found a compromise – they’d do it together. They booked a weekend away in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and the host of their Air BnB organised the most beautiful sunset picnic on Sunset Hill. As the sky softened into gold, they read letters to one another. Then, after a brief glimpse at each other’s rings – placed them on each other’s fingers. Sophie, true to form, had created a crossword (because crosswords are a love language in this relationship). Every clue was about their last four years together. The highlighted letters spelled:
“Will you marry me.”
It was perfect.
Their rings are completely unique, yet beautifully cohesive – and of course, we adore the subtle Anchor detail they both incorporate. A quiet nod to that fateful first date. The beginning of everything.
A promise made equally.
A story written together.
A forever that started in the gutter outside the Hope & Anchor.
We are so honoured to have played a small part in your Happily Ever After x
