Design your Baby's Birth Ring

The meaning behind this design

The Sapphire
We picked the centre stone first and forement as this was Addilyn’s “colour”. It just suited her so well so we were really drawn to this colour for her.
The detail

To her design we popped 2x natural Diamonds gently resting on the upper right edge of her pear Sapphire. These represent the twins that were miscarried prior to our Rainbow baby. So nice that we were able to represent them here – our stars in the night sky.

We chose a knife-edge band for this design, as it really suited the pear shape stone, and gave it a cool modern look. And inside this we set a wee Emerald, which is Addilyn’s birthstone, along with her initials engraved inside the band.

The meaning behind this design

The Sapphire
I chose a gorgeous pink with streaks of orange/red hues as the central Sapphire, in a cushion shape with soft gentle curves. While I don’t associate a single colour with my baby, I just really love this one myself!
The detail

I wanted a pavé band as it really makes the Sapphire pop, and decided to use this to indicate her birthday! I set her birthstone, a Garnet for January, at position #15 – January 15th! (You can see this on the right side). I also decided to use two metals as the Sapphire itself called for Rose Gold, but the band I wanted in a white metal to showcase those Diamonds.

The Sapphire
The moment I set eyes on this Sapphire I knew it was the one. A beautiful bright blue, so full of life! I loved the shape too – we orientated it to be in the shape of a ‘play’ symbol because as soon as he was born there was no stopping him!
The detail

Given this will be his to wear one day, I wanted to make this a more masculine looking ring. I chose a square shaped band and kept the overall design pretty simple. We made the Sapphire the focus by making it tension set within the band. A simple, strong and striking design that we finished off with his birthstone and initials on the inside of the band.

The meaning behind this design

The Sapphire
“You are my sunshine” always rung in my ears when I think about her, and hence the colour Yellow. Bright, happy and positive. I fell in love with this Sapphire as it reminded me of the shape of an egg and felt so fitting for a Birth Ring. Amazingly, this beautiful stone also had a touch of blue/teal going through the centre, which was a reminder to us that we had thought this little girl was a guy! It took a few months to get over that shock, but of course we now wouldn’t have it any other way.
The detail

I decided to slightly tilt the Sapphire here for a bit of interest, and to the right I added a part pavé band consisting of 5 Diamonds, which represents the day she was born – on the 5th.

Inside the band we added an Amethyst, her birthstone, along with her initials.
