Special Birthday – Charlotte

Charlotte contacted us with an idea to celebrate her significant birthday just around the corner.  She wanted a special ring to represent her 3 beautiful daughters that she could carry with her everyday.  She had seen and tried on a few options in stores, but they weren’t quite right and she had “pretty much given up on the idea before coming to you” so placed a big deal of trust that we would be able to a) translate and b) achieve what she was dreaming of.  Charlotte was after 3 pinky peachy sort of colour (she sent us a pic) Sapphires exactly the same.  Finding 1 in an exact colour hue is hard enough, but 3?  Lucky we love a good treasure hunt and reassured Charlotte there would be no pressure along the way to ‘settle’ – we would find the Sapphires she was looking for.

As we presented Charlotte different options, we realised the size of these stones (just over 3mm each) also made it difficult to really process what colour you could see (the consult was not in person).  To help process, we sent several images, images with comparisons of her options, and images with comparisons to the ‘Inspo colour’ she had sent.  Anything she needed to be able to make her call.  While it was not an easy decision, and there was some level of trust that we understood the assignment, Charlotte bit the bullet and decided to proceed with a trio we had sourced that she agreed were “at least very close!”

While it can be difficult to predict how the stone’s colour will be affected by the metal choice it is set in, we knew the beautiful warm yellow tones of the Yellow Gold she had picked would pull through and emphasize these warm tones within her Sapphires.  And it did this perfectly. 

Charlotte is beyond happy with the beautiful piece she has created.  Choosing the stones herself meant the meaning behind them representing her daughters was purposeful and intentional.  Then going through all the details such as prong placement, light taper to the band, and the gorgeous tulip setting we encased them in that mirrors her own engagement ring, gives every inch of this self-gift thought and consideration.  And every inch of it, perfect.

So am very pleased I found you and didn’t give up on my idea. It really comes down to trust and communication and working with you was very easy.”
