Rectangular Sapphires

Rectangular sapphires can be cut in cushion cut, emerald cut or radiant cut – it is all to do with the size and shape of the facets basically. Which is why we make it simple and just call it a rectangle sapphire!

• Cushion cut features soft rounded corners generally in a square shape, but can be rectangle too.
• Emerald cut rectangles are recognised by their long facets, large table (top flat surface plane) and cut off corners. They can be referred to as Octagonal cut also as they have eight sides.
• Radiant cut is similar to Emerald cut in that it is also an octangonal shape with cut off corners, however the facets are more similar to a Brilliant cut.

Squares and rectangles are stable. They’re familiar and trusted shapes and suggest honesty. They have right angles and represent order, mathematics, rationality, and formality. They are seen as earthbound. Rectangles are the most common geometric shape encountered. The majority of text we read is set in rectangles or squares.
